OVERHEARD: Hillary Clinton Chats About Vice-Presidency with Friend at Lunch
WASHINGTON — “Of course it’s a big honor just to be discussed for the position,” Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said confidentially to an anonymous friend on Monday over lunch, unaware an un-named British media tycoon had authorized hacking into her phone to record the conversation.
“Still, I love the work I do. Meeting all those world leaders is pretty exciting, and being on hand to see history in the making in foreign lands is truly thrilling,” she gushed. “It would be hard to give all that up.”
Arguably the most powerful woman in the world, Clinton, as always, wisely looked at both sides of the issue.
“Instead of jet-setting around the globe stopping conflicts and saving babies from war strife, I’d be sitting in the Vice-President’s office. The presidential back-up goalie no one hopes gets in the game. Just sitting there staring day after day. Look what it’s done to Joe. He’s become a blathering idiot. Of course, he couldn’t get water out of a boot with instructions on the heel at the best of times, but still.”
